Advanced nurse practitioner and lead immunotherapy nurse, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre
Trudy-Jane Guinan has worked in the field of Oncology for over 20 years, working at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Lead Immunotherapy Nurse. During the past 5 years she has worked with Dr Anna Olsson-Brown setting up the UK’s first Immuno-oncology service at the Cancer Centre, the service has received national recognition (Radio Interviews, ITV’s This morning, BBC Northwest piece) and won an award for innovation in the 2020 BJN Awards.
She regularly provides ongoing specialist support and advice to those involved in the delivery of IO across the country, speaks at National conferences and has run and presented at Immunotherapy workshops at Clatterbridge for national delegates as well as speaking at national conferences. Trudy has completed her Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice focusing her dissertation on the impact of a centralised IO service at the cancer centre, which was published in the British Journal of Nursing in 2022. Following on from all her hard work and dedication she was then appointed as Nurse Consultant specialising in Immuno-Oncology.
Trudy-Jane is also on the board of trustees for the Immuno-Oncology Clinical Network (IOCN) and the British Society of skin care in Immunocompromised Individuals (BSSCII).
Her most recent achievement is developing an E-learning Programme in collaboration with the Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Alliance. The modules have been designed to enhance confidence, knowledge, and clinical decision-making, while supporting safe and effective patient care across all settings. We hope it gives healthcare professionals the knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond to immune-related adverse events early, so that every patient receives safe, timely and consistent care.
