Tom Challacombe
Clinical practice development lead, Herefordshire & Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust
Tom is the Clinical Practice Development Lead for Herefordshire & Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust. In this role, he coordinates multiple elements of education within the Trust, including all clinical competencies, and has led the multi-professional preceptorship community programme for the past seven years.
He is passionate about delivering high-quality education and takes a particular interest in how newly registered clinical staff adjust to professional practice for the first time. A children’s nurse by background, Tom continues to work 1–2 clinical shifts each month. He completed an MA in Education in 2021 and also works as an Associate Lecturer at the local university. In addition, he is an accredited RCN Learning Rep and undertakes ad hoc work for the RCN, accrediting education programmes submitted for approval.
Tom’s most recent work includes coordinating the Trust’s SCPHN interviews pre-course enrolment, line-managing two Practice Facilitators who deliver a new-to-care HCSW programme, and providing pastoral support for international staff.
