Shella Sandoval

Shella completed her BSc Nursing from the Philippines and holds an MSc in Healthcare Leadership from the University of Birmingham through the NHS Leadership Academy’s Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Programme.  She is the only Filipino to receive the Executive Healthcare Leadership Award after completing the Nye Bevan Programme. 

Shella has over 30 years of experience, with a career spanning clinical practice, leadership, and innovation. Shella has co‑authored peer‑reviewed publications and previously served as a faculty member of the Vascular Access Society of Britain and Ireland (VASBI).  Shella is also a specialist advisor for the Care Quality Commission, contributing to a range of inspections.

As Chief Nursing Information Officer and Clinical Safety Officer, she champions clinical expertise and digital transformation and serves on the Digital Health CNIO Advisory Panel, championing nursing informatics and the safe adoption of digital technologies.

In her capacity as volunteer for Education and Employers’ Inspiring the Future, she supports young people by sharing real‑world insights into nursing and careers in the NHS; helping students build confidence, aspirations, and informed choices about their future pathways.
