Shahissta heads up Member Development at HMCA, with a particular focus on nurse wellbeing. This involves helping nurses safeguard their health and their future, while providing greater peace of mind. Nurse wellbeing has both professional and personal significance for Shahissta through her own and her family’s experience of working in healthcare.

Having supported change and transformation across the NHS and healthcare sector through technology, Shahissta understands first-hand some of the pressures facing the nursing profession. Earlier this year, Shahissta attended RCN Congress, listening to nurses and gathering insight into the pressures they face both during and beyond their working day.

Following conversations with nurses at RCN Congress, Shahissta has proposed the introduction of a HMCA nursing scholarship to support future development opportunities. This forms part of a wider focus on driving initiatives that benefit the nursing community beyond providing private medical plans.

Shahissta is currently working with Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity, including HMCA’s sponsorship of the KITE Awards, which recognises the contribution of colleagues across Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.
