RCN general practice nursing forum chair

Sarah Hall is a distinguished British healthcare leader and advocate for primary care nursing. She has been an influential member of the RCN General Practice Nurse (GPN) Forum for eight years and is the current Forum Chair. With over 40 years of nursing experience, including 23 years dedicated strictly to primary care Sarah has long been an influential voice in community nursing.

Currently holding her national RCN leadership role, Sarah recently retired as the Clinical Standards Manager for Primary and Community Nursing at the NHS Devon Integrated Care Board (ICB). In this strategic role, she spearheaded the Devon GPN Strategy, focusing on clinical quality, safety, and workforce development. Her dedication to patient care earned her the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse in 2023.

Throughout her career, Sarah has been a fierce champion for workforce retention and parity of pay, terms, and conditions. Recognising the critical need to support staff, she designed and implemented the Legacy Nurse Mentorship initiative at Devon ICB. This innovative programme retains the invaluable expertise of senior, retiring nurses by pairing them with newly qualified peers. Additionally, she has collaborated on programmes and projects with NHS England (NHSE) to deliver national primary care policy regarding workforce retention and quality.

Whether advising national nursing strategy or mentoring individual clinicians, Sarah Hall remains steadfast in her mission to elevate the profile of general practice nursing, improve working conditions, and secure a sustainable future for the primary care workforce.
