Samantha Preston
RCN Lead Nurse for Independent Health & Social Care for the East Midlands, RCN East Midlands
Sam Preston is the Lead Nurse for Independent Health and Social Care for the East Midlands. Her journey into health and social care began as a care assistant in a local nursing home, whilst studying for a Diploma in social care. Seeing vulnerable people treated without dignity and respect made Sam determined to complete her nurse training to ensure she could shape and change the health and social care journeys of people for the better.
On qualifying, Sam worked in surgery and intensive care within the NHS. Moving on to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry as a clinical education specialist, delivering training and building relationships that changed clinical practice for the better. She returned to social care, as a practice development facilitator and then becoming a nursing and residential manager. Nursing and supporting her team through the pandemic were one of the most challenging and rewarding periods of her career.
Sam has been an RCN member throughout her career. Now she is privileged to represent our IHSC Member and create a more inclusive membership offering that serves their unique needs.
