Rhiannon Roynon
Specialist clinical lead for remote care, The Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust
Rhiannon has been a Registered Adult Nurse since 2006, earning her degree from the University of Wales College of Medicine. She began her career in medical wards, developing a strong foundation in patient care before specialising in cardiology. This diverse clinical background shaped her holistic approach and commitment to high-quality care.
In 2013, Rhiannon joined NHS Direct Wales as a Nurse Advisor, where she broadened her expertise and supported operational staff. She delivered training to new clinicians and played a vital role in the roll-out of the 111 Programme across Health Boards in Wales. Her dedication to professional development led her to a seconded Senior Practice Educator position.
At present, Rhiannon holds the role of Specialist Clinical Lead, where she offers expert leadership and direction. In this capacity, she has collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to develop initiatives such as the Call Prioritisation Streaming System (CPSS). This system helps make decision-making more efficient and supports the delivery of timely, appropriate care, which aligns with Rhiannon’s focus on maintaining high standards in clinical practice.
She is also pursuing an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice to further enhance her knowledge and skills. Rhiannon is passionate about championing quality, fostering learning, and supporting nursing, allied health care, and non-clinical practice—always striving to create environments where staff and patients can flourish.
