Community Parkinson’s disease nursing lead, University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire

Rachel Peskett is a highly experienced Parkinson’s Disease Nurse with a nursing career spanning 35 years, including over 25 years dedicated to supporting individuals with Parkinson’s disease and related neurological conditions.

She is a key member of the Coventry & Warwickshire Regional Parkinson’s Team, working in close collaboration with neurologists who specialise in movement disorders. Rachel is also an active member of the Parkinson’s Disease Nurse Specialist Association (PDNSA).

In her current role as the Community Parkinson’s Disease Nursing Lead, she oversees a small team that delivers personalised care and support to patients and their carers. This includes home visits, nurse-led clinics, and telephone consultations. Her work also encompasses participation in local and national audits, as well as involvement in teaching, education, and research initiatives.

Rachel has been a qualified non-medical prescriber for over 20 years, a skill she considers essential in delivering timely and effective care.

She has a particular interest in frailty and is currently leading the development of local services in partnership with patients and carers. Through the facilitation of a patient focus group, she ensures that service improvements are shaped by the voices and experiences of those directly affected.
