Mel joined Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust in December 2018, as Director of Operations for Primary Care, Community and Therapy services, before moving to Acting Chief Operating Officer in October 2020 and interim Chief Nurse in January 2021 before being appointed as Chief Nursing Officer in September 2021. In January 2024 she became Nursing Lead for the Black Country Acute Provider Collaborative to ensure consistency and development within Nursing, Midwifery & AHPs
More recently she has been asked to join the National Enhanced Therapeutic Observation Steering Group and has become a member of the England Chief Nursing Officer's Strategic Advisory Group. She is an accomplished NHS Senior Nursing & Operational Leader with a successful track record of delivering and transforming services that provide high quality patient care across acute, community and mental health settings.
