Mandeep is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at De Montfort University, Leicester. She teaches across multiple undergraduate and post graduate modules, including clinical skills, professionalism and accountability, impact of research in evidence-based nursing practice and service improvement, as well as nursing skills across undergraduate healthcare programme. She has gained extensive leadership experience across clinical practice working within acute medical wards and the corporate Patient Safety team.

Mandeep’s long-standing passion for improving communication during clinical nursing shift handovers, led her to completing the prestigious Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) Travel Scholarship and becoming an FNF Scholar. After observing nursing handovers across multiple hospitals in the UK, she shared good practice, co-designed and piloted bedside handovers. This work led to successful benchmarking and embedding of bedside handovers across multiple hospital Trust sites.

Mandeep is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), and was honoured with the Sigma Phi Mu Chapter Clinical Practice Leadership Award in 2023. Mandeep’s dedication to community health promotion included volunteer work within charitable organisations to raise targeted cardiac health awareness and teaching bystander CPR while promoting service user education within South Asian communities. Her primary research and interest include Quality Improvement, Women’s Health and Public Health. She has published and shared her work across various networks, BMJ Blog, RCNi Nursing Student and RCN Careers event.
