While studying Biomedical Science, Lena worked part-time as a nursing support worker. Inspired by brilliant nurses including her nurse parents, she completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Adult Nursing.

She also completed her Advance Assessment training. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she managed 50 nursing staff on a respiratory ward, supporting Level 2 COVID-19 patients. In 2022, she joined the RCN to focus on safe and effective staffing, the RCN Nursing Workforce Standards, nurse-to-patient ratios and eradicating corridor care.

Lena prioritises patient safety and dignity, and staff education and wellbeing. She strongly beliefs that a knowledgeable workforce will deliver safe, effective, evidence-based, compassionate and high-quality care. Some of her proudest moments in nursing so far include receiving the High Sheriff of Greater London Award, Student Hero Award, Next Generation Nightingale Award, work done during the pandemic to support staff health, safety and wellbeing and the introduction of the RCN Standards Champions.

Lena enjoys gardening, dancing, cooking, volunteering and spending some quality time with family and friends.
