Kirsty Cartin is a highly respected care home nurse with over two decades of experience dedicated to improving the lives of residents and the wider perception of care homes within communities. A graduate of the University of Abertay, Dundee, Kirsty qualified as a nurse in 2002 and has devoted her entire career to the care home sector, working across both private and charitable organisations.

Kirsty’s journey has seen her progress from staff nurse to unit manager, deputy manager, and now home manager, reflecting her commitment to leadership and continuous improvement in care. In 2023, she completed the prestigious Queen’s Nurse Leadership Development Programme, earning the title of Queen’s Nurse. That same year, her leadership was recognised with the 'Leadership Award' at the Scottish Care - Care Home Awards.

Under Kirsty's leadership, Rashielee Care Home was awarded 'Care Service of the Year' in 2024, a testament to her team's dedication to delivering outstanding, person-centred care. In 2025, Kirsty's passion, vision, and commitment to clinical excellence were further celebrated when she received both the 'Clinical Leadership' award and the coveted 'Nurse of the Year' title at the RCN Scotland Awards.

Kirsty is a passionate advocate for enhancing the role of care homes as integral to community care. Her areas of focus include palliative care, staff wellbeing, intergenerational connections, and challenging outdated perceptions of care homes.
