Dr. Isabella Tetteh is a healthcare researcher, a published author and radiography professional whose work focuses on patient safety, speaking up cultures, and the experiences of healthcare workers in diverse and resource-constrained settings. She earned her PhD in Healthcare Sciences from Cardiff University, where her doctoral research explored how Ghanaian radiographers engage in speaking up for patient safety, contributing valuable insights to international conversations on voice behaviours in healthcare.

Dr. Tetteh currently serves as Speak Up Review Manager at the National Guardian’s Office (NGO) in London. In this role, she leads national reviews examining how speaking up is supported across England’s healthcare organisations, working closely with key stakeholders including NHS England, the Care Quality Commission, and the Department of Health and Social Care. Her work bridges research, policy, and practice to strengthen organisational learning and safety cultures within the NHS. She is currently leading the NGO’s speak up review which focuses on exploring the speaking up experiences of temporary workers in NHS England.

Prior to joining the NGO, Dr. Tetteh practiced as a Diagnostic Radiographer for close to a decade, gaining extensive clinical experience across general, MRI, CT, mammography, dental and theatre imaging. Her publications include studies on speaking up for patient safety and the experiences of overseas-trained healthcare workers.

She is an excellent communicator who has won several awards. Dr. Tetteh is also a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Her research and practice continue to champion openness, inclusion, and psychological safety in healthcare.
