Hildah Jiah
Head of nursing for adult community mental health services, Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT)
Hildah Jiah is the Head of Nursing for Adult Community Mental Health Services at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT), where she leads nursing standards, quality, and care provision across adult community services.
Previously, Hildah was a Consultant Nurse in Early Intervention in Psychosis with the PATH (Psychosis: Prevention, Assessment and Treatment in Hertfordshire) Service, and served as the Trust Lead for Non-Medical Prescribing. Her 30-year nursing career spans clinical practice, service development, and education, including roles as a Practice Development Nurse and Behavioural-Cognitive Nurse Therapist. She contributed to the development and led the delivery of the Thorn Initiative (Psychosocial Interventions for Psychosis) Programme at the University of Hertfordshire and also worked as a Training and Practice Development Officer at the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health working delivering training programmes.
Hildah holds a BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing, an MA in Education, and diplomas in Adult Behavioural and Systemic Therapy from the Institute of Psychiatry, Maudsley Hospital and King’s College London, as well as Non-Medical Prescribing (V300). She is currently undertaking a PhD on perimenopause screening and care in women with psychosis, reflecting her commitment to advancing evidence-based and gender-sensitive mental health practice.
A Registered Mental Nurse, Hildah also served as a panel member for the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Fitness to Practise hearings. Most recently, the transformation of nurse-led clinics in adult community services won the 2025 HSJ Patient Safety Award for Early-Stage Patient Safety Innovation of the Year and received commendation for Nurse-Led Patient Safety Initiative of the Year.
