Heidi Williams
Clinical nurse educator, Liverpool University Hospital Group
Heidi Williams is a Clinical Nurse Educator, Doctoral Researcher, and Professional Nurse Advocate with a passion for people, practice, and progress. With a strong background in gastroenterology, acute medicine, and elderly care, she has developed a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within medical nursing. Formerly a Ward Sister in gastroenterology, she now works across specialist medicine, supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and optimal evidence-based care.
Currently undertaking a doctorate and holding an MSc in Nursing alongside a BA in Education, Heidi brings together academic rigour and frontline experience. She is deeply committed to fostering positive workplace cultures, enhancing staff wellbeing, and promoting professional growth — recognising that a supported and valued workforce is the foundation of excellent patient care. At the heart of Heidi’s practice is the belief that when we look after our staff, we empower them to provide the very best for our patients.
In her current role, Heidi designs and delivers educational programmes that inspire reflective practice, build clinical confidence, and cultivate compassionate leadership. She is an advocate for professional development pathways that empower nurses to reach their full potential, champion innovation, and influence change within their organisations.
Her leadership approach is collaborative and people-centred, shaped by experience in both clinical and educational settings. She is particularly interested in how organisational culture influences staff morale, retention, and patient outcomes, and her doctoral research focuses on advancing understanding in this area.
