Dave is a Regional Service User Ambassador, living at Willowbeck, an Exemplar Health Care home.

“In March 2018, I fell while skiing and the resulting brain stem stroke left me with severe physical difficulties, diagnosed as locked-in syndrome. I’ve been left nonverbal and 95% of my communication is via a computer screen attached to my wheelchair equipped with eye tracking technology. This technology is my portal to the world, and helps me bring about change.”

Dave forms part of the Service User Council. A council that brings together residents from across Exemplar Health Care to share their lived experience and drive meaningful change.

As a Regional Ambassador, he influences change internally by meeting directly with our Executive Management Team, as well as inspiring external organisations and industry professionals with his experiences.
