Acute kidney injury advanced clinical practitioner, University Hospital of Southampton

Becky Bonfield is an Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) who is currently working on a National Institute for Health care Research Doctoral Clinical Academic and Practitioner Fellowship- undertaking a PhD. Becky has been an AKI ACP for 10 years, and prior to that worked in Critical Care Outreach and Medical High Dependency. Alongside her clinical/ research role Becky works at the University as a clinical teaching fellow on the MSc in Advanced Practice Programme.

Becky is interested in patient centred work and ensuring delivery holistic care. Becky works on a national level for the Association of Nephrology Nurses- sitting on their executive board and leading their Communities of Practice. Becky also co-leads the UK Kidney Association AKI Special Interest Group Innovation and Improvement workstream. She is passionate about fluid balance documentation and has helped to write the NHS England Nutrition and Hydration Policy (to be launched 2025) and led the work on the Implementation guide that will be association with the policy document.
