Alex is a Regional Service User Ambassador, and lives at Maypole Grove care home - part of Exemplar Health Care.

When she first came to Exemplar Health Care, Alex was very timid, and often didn’t want to leave her room. An opportunity arose for her to join the Service User Council, a council comprising of residents from each Exemplar Health Care home, who come together to champion the voices of people with complex needs, and lead meaningful change across the organisation.

Over the last four years, Alex’s confidence has skyrocketed, and she’s now a proud Regional Ambassador, sharing her lived experience to make an impact both internally, and externally.

“I really thought for a lot of years that it wasn’t going to get any better than watching TV in a room. I feel useful again, I feel like we’re making a change.”
