Sam is an educator with an interest in simulation and cardiorespiratory nursing. He has over 25 years of combined experience in healthcare and education.
His research interests include shared decision-making and cardiorespiratory nursing, and he has been published in nursing and medical journals. Sam has just submitted his PhD, exploring the living with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Sam’s primary role within the Coventry University Simulation team is to develop, evaluate, enhance, and expand Virtual Simulated Placements (VSPs), often utilising various IT software to which the school has access. The VSPs are frequently employed in the undergraduate nursing courses as part of placement weeks.
Another key responsibility is ensuring that the Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE), a unique teaching environment, is utilised across the school and within simulation-based teaching. Sam is passionate about enhancing simulation, making certain that they are relevant, engaging, and realistic to clinical practice.
