I became a CNO at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, a mental health and community health trust in April 2022. Prior to this I worked in Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation as the Deputy Director of Nursing. I have worked in the NHS since becoming a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 1996 and have had roles across all parts of health care including Head of Healthcare at HMP Birmingham, Nurse Consultant in Acute Inpatient Care, Lead Nurse for Mental Health and Women. I hold executive responsibility for Nursing, Allied Health Professionals, Psychological Professions, Safeguarding, Quality and is the Director for Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC). I am very proud to be the professional lead for Nurses, AHP’s and Psychological Professions and a key part of this is how we welcome people into those professions and support the transition from student to registrant so am delighted to be talking today about preceptorship.
