Marsha Jones

Associate chief nurse
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust

Marsha qualified as an RGN in 1994 and has amassed over 30 years of experience across acute and community settings. She began her career in Acute Medicine before embracing a leadership pathway—from Ward Manager to her current position as Associate Chief Nurse. With a breadth of portfolios under my leadership, Marsha has consistently driven improvements across diverse NHS trusts and provider organisations.

Her career includes roles in Operational Management, Head of Improvement (strategy & planning), and Deputy Director of Governance—through which she gained an in-depth understanding of NHS systems beyond bedside care, equipping me to lead strategic, system-wide initiatives aided by becoming a certified Project Manager.

Marsha completed the MSc in Healthcare Leadership and as a highly visible and engaging leader she takes joy in mentoring, and supporting junior staff, developing others to ensure every team member can grow and thrive. She believes in leading from the front—being present and approachable —so that staff sees leadership in action.

Her expertise in clinical governance and improvement has driven initiatives across all aspects of Quality Priorities. Most recently Marsha has been the non-medical clinical lead on the programme team for the readiness and opening of the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. During this period, she led transformational change projects that enhanced quality, safety, and sustainability across all Quality Priorities.

Now, as Associate Chief Nurse, Marsha leads and oversees areas including workforce and education, clinical procurement (including embedding the Green Agenda), and programme governance—ensuring high standards of care and continuous professional development.
