Leisa Anderton is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing and Midwifery at Sheffield Hallam University, where she leads postgraduate education focused on digital health, artificial intelligence (AI), and technology-enhanced learning. Her work bridges clinical practice, education, and digital innovation, ensuring nurses and midwives are prepared for an increasingly data-driven and AI-enabled health system.

Leisa is currently undertaking a PhD exploring the role of artificial intelligence in nurse education within the UK, using an exploratory mixed-methods design. Her research seeks to understand how AI, including generative AI, is being integrated into teaching and learning, and to identify the frameworks and evaluation tools needed to support safe, effective adoption.

As part of the Phillips Ives Digital Care Review and the 10-Year Plan Working Group on Digital Transformation, Leisa contributes to shaping the national agenda for digital capability and literacy within the nursing and midwifery workforce. Her work focuses on translating emerging technologies into pedagogically sound, ethical, and inclusive approaches across higher education and clinical practice.

Leisa regularly presents at national and international conferences, sharing insights on digital transformation, workforce readiness, and the evolving role of AI in professional education. Her practice exemplifies how research, policy, and innovation intersect to prepare future nurses to thrive in a digitally enabled NHS.
